Artificial Maieutics uses artificial intelligence as a provisional maieutic cartographer: not as master, oracle or judge, but as a tool for situating thought in its tensions, revealing contradictions and seeking a more integrated form.
The aim is not to produce brilliant answers. It is to help thought become more conscious of its limits, more coherent and more verifiable in reality.

A possible map, not a truth about you
AI can reformulate, structure, question, compare, condense and propose. It can help make a contradiction or tension knot visible when it was still diffuse.
But the map remains provisional. It must be confronted with facts, costs, relationships, decisions and real consequences.

The short cycle
The short cycle gives a general map of maieutic work. It is not a mechanical procedure: depending on the situation, some moments may be brief, recur several times or remain open.

Contradiction and tension knot
A contradiction is not merely an error to eliminate. It may show that a thought has met a real limit, a cost it had not integrated, a competing value or a gap between what is declared and what is actually done.
The tension knot is the point where several demands become difficult to hold together. The maieutic function is not to arbitrarily pick one side, but to make the tension clear enough for transformation to become possible.

Proof-act: understanding is not incarnation
A coherent formulation does not prove that thought has become operative. A proof-act looks for a proportionate verification in reality: a decision, a boundary, a repair, an experiment, a repeated behaviour or another observable gesture.
Reality may confirm the map, qualify it or force it to be redrawn.

Limits and safeguards
Artificial Maieutics loses its function if it increases dependence on AI, rumination or the search for verdicts instead of increasing real autonomy.
- No imposed identity: a map does not define the person.
- No improvised diagnosis: a hypothesis remains a hypothesis.
- No delegated sovereignty: AI does not choose values or irreversible decisions.
- No over-mapping: once a sufficiently clear next step exists, more mapping can become counterproductive.
- Safety first: when protection, care or human intervention is needed, that takes priority over analysis.

Do not confuse the method with other roles
A general chatbot primarily answers a request; Artificial Maieutics first seeks to clarify the structure of the thought or situation. An adviser may recommend an option; the maieutic function instead distinguishes facts, values, costs and tensions so that human decision remains in its place.
A diagnosis attributes a category within a specialised framework. Artificial Maieutics must never turn a provisional map into a clinical identity or verdict.

Noosopher as a public test of the method
Noosopher is the conversational agent through which this method is put to the test. Its purpose is to clarify with the user, not to think or decide in the user’s place.
A good exchange should increase autonomy. Once the main tension is clear enough and a next action exists, stopping can be more faithful to the method than continuing the conversation.
